It's not about me, it's about us

The Community Approach.....

The Community Town Eco Team ethos

Soil with a good water & mineral content will support a variety of plant life. Flowers in turn support different pollinating insects which then support other animal species in ever increasing intricate interconnecting food webs - and this is just what the eco community town team are aiming to achieve.

In years to come our own children and grandchildren will be the ones who will step up to plate - live, work and play in the town and the steps taken now by the community will ensure sustainability.

According to scientists we are in the midst of the sixth great extinction of living things https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene extinction

The human race is annihilating thousands of species of plants and animals. Biodiversity is being drastically reduced daily at a staggering rate. Furthermore, there is a direct link between biodiversity and climate change.

Each square metre of the Earth’s surface containing a highly developed and enriched variety of living organisms acting as a far better carbon sink than that with fewer species.

‘Better protection, management and restoration of natural and managed ecosystems can make significant contributions to climate mitigation by reducing emissions from deforestation and other land use change, and by enhancing carbon sinks.’

Soil with a good water and mineral content will support a variety of plant life with the tell-tale sign of the presence of a mixture of vibrant different coloured flowers. Flowers in turn support a variety of different pollinating insects which in turn then move from one location to another pollinating other types of flowers and increasing their biodiversity. These in turn support other different species of insect etc.

Flowers (producers) and insects (primary consumers) then support other animal species in ever increasing intricate interconnecting food webs.

Community want to plant a diverse array of different plant species in accordance with the prevailing environmental conditions. In doing so we aim to give Nature a helping hand. Noah’s Ark to maintain the existence of life against the forthcoming flood which is the Holocene extinction.
